#Twenty4Ukraine

WHY #TWENTY4UKRAINE 365 DAYS LATER?...

Imagine having to flee your home and leave everything you've ever known behind, just to stay alive. For the people of Ukraine, this is an ongoing reality for the last 365 days. As we approach the one-year marking of the invasion, we're calling on our friends and colleagues to help us support those affected and help us rebuild .

Donations to #Twenty4Ukraine will go directly to UNITED24.gov.ua, which is working to rebuild the infrastructure of Ukraine and provide humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict. This includes providing food, shelter, and medical assistance to displaced families, as well as rebuilding homes, schools, and hospitals that have been damaged or destroyed by the conflict.

Your contributions will make a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by the conflict and help to build a brighter future for Ukraine..

Darragh Hayes, CEO of LEI Worldwide will be running 20 Kilometres for Ukraine and will be posting updates as he goes along. We would also like to extend this challenge to anybody up to the task!

“The number 24 is very important for Ukraine, this is both the date of Independence Day, and the day when a full-scale war started, changing our lives. 24 hours a day, Ukraine fights for its freedom, and the whole world supports us in this fight. The UNITED24 platform is a reflection of such support”

- Andriy Shevchenko

HOW IT STARTED

LEI Worldwide have worked closely with the team at Brights.io since before the war broke out. We have been following their story and supporting them, along the way we have managed to secure many clients and even win awards with our technology, this is our way of paying it forward.

The origin story to this campaign began before Christmas 2022, when some team members turned down the offer of a year end bonus, and selflessly asked for any financial reward to go toward a chosen charity.

After deciding to make a charitable donation, we were heartened to receive an outpouring of support from many of our clients, friends, and colleagues who expressed a desire to contribute to the cause as well.

This inspired the idea for a 20 day campaign ‘Twenty4Ukraine’, when we considered that the famously benevolent Irish financial services and legal sector might also add on top of an LEI Worldwide initial donation.

INDIVIDUAL TEAM MEMBERS STORIES OF THE CONFLICT

In Ireland and the UK we prepare to welcome the arrival of summer with its longer days, warmer weather, and outdoor activities.

Our colleagues in Ukraine are bracing themselves for another season of conflict. As the ground hardens with the coming of spring, Russian forces are once again able to move their armored vehicles off-road, threatening the cities and towns of Ukraine.

Our colleagues at Brights.io kindly agreed to share their personal experiences.

Tymur Zhukotynskyi / Back-end developer: Tymur has been with us since the beginning of the LEI project.

When the full-scale invasion broke out, he went from Kharkiv to Lviv with only a laptop.

The distance between these cities is 2.34 times greater than the national border of Ireland.

Tymur also tragically lost his father, who had  joined the army at the beginning of the war and died on the frontline, just a few weeks before Christmas.

"My dad was one of the most extraordinary people I knew. He taught by example. To be yourself, bring joy to loved ones, never give up and always look for a way out of difficulties."

Vladyslav Kubyshkin / Front-end developer: Vladyslav lives next to the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant. He works on, although air raid alerts in his city have been on several times a day for the last nine months.

Yevheniia Pryhoda / Front-end developer: Yehveniia remained in the Kyiv region. "While the air defense sirens drone, she hugs her dog and continues developing."

Maryna Tolkachenko / Project Manager: The first days of the war were shocking for Maryna. She evacuated from Kyiv to the Czech Republic with her younger sisters and stayed there, working from a library, until the North of Ukraine was liberated.

With attacks on the energy system, she moved again from Kyiv to a rural house in the front-line region because there was a stove and stable internet to work from.

Maryna never missed a single meeting, hit every deadline and maintained a high level of output throughout.

Pasha Parovinchak / QA: Pasha is from the Transcarpathian region. This place is not much affected by rockets due to its closeness to the NATO territories, however, he’s challenged by the blackouts after the mass shellings of the energy infrastructure.

Despite all of the above, the team have consistently produced world class, award winning technology and top class solutions for LEI Worldwide and our thousands of clients in Ireland and abroad..

Their final statement:

“Every day for 365 days in a row it is a work-war-life balance.

You can stand with Ukraine by donating and hiring Ukrainians.”
